There are 5 main types of customers on your site:
They are loyal to your business and are repeat customers.
Best Way to Engage: Interact with them on a regular basis. Have special rewards for their loyalty. Share special promotions prior to sharing for the rest of the world.
They are savvy customers who found you via search engines.
Best Way to Engage: Respect their language – have great search on your website! Information should be easy to find and thorough.
They don’t have anything on the to-do list but will buy what stands out or seems good at the time.
Best Way to Engage: Have great images and descriptions. Share product recommendations, what’s hot now guide their overall shopping experience.
Think of these folks as “window shoppers”. They aren’t in the market for anything but differ from impulse shoppers in that they don’t impulse buy something that stands out. They will be inspired by a product and “keep it in the back of their mind” in case they find a better product or deal elsewhere.
Best Way to Engage: Inspire customers to buy with great recommendations and cross-selling. You must communicate the advantages of your product and price clearly to encourage a transaction.
DISCOUNT/ PRICE HUNTERS:
They make decisions based on the size of the markdown or deal.
Best Way to Engage: Have a clear pricing policy. Products on sale must be clearly indicated and collected in one place. Offer discount codes, free shipping or deals in exchange for contact information.
